SandRose is a project management and consultancy firm, incorporated in the Republic of Kenya, specialising in supporting infrastructure projects across Africa, with a specific focus on power projects and renewable energy.

Driven by our goal of generating progress and preserving the environment, SandRose assists and enables organisations to transform their business concepts into successful and sustainable results. The Integrated Project Development Services (IPDS) is a unique combination of services brought together to entirely support project developers, owners and investors in their development efforts.

In its full form, it is designed to support projects from their inception to financial close. The IPDS utilises the wide SandRose in-country and international expertise in the realisation of power projects and is available to developers, investors or owners of Renewable Energy projects in East Africa.

Understanding the constraints and challenges of project development, we have designed IPDS to help projects better manage and mitigate risks while enhancing efficiencies at all levels. A particular focus is to help projects reach PPA negotiations at a minimum third party cost while benefiting from best industry practices and advisory services.

The Stakeholder Engagement Services (SES) is a suite of services aimed at identifying, minimising and managing social risks associated with infrastructure project development and implementation, considering time, budget and reputation.

SandRose will bring its expertise and experience to build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with project stakeholders. Designed to each project needs, our action plans include:

  • Conduction of public consultation and information meetings
  • Community liaison
  • Identification and management of project impacts on communities and related social risks
  • Design and implementation of grievance redress mechanism
  • Design and management of community development plan
  • Compliance monitoring.

Baptiste Bergès

Founder & Managing Director

Baptiste is a renewable energy expert and project finance specialist with ten years experience in this field in Africa. His past collaborations include project developers, national utilities, multilateral donors/lenders, governments and private investors, consulting and engineering companies. Before founding SandRose, Baptiste worked for the Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy as Wind & Site Engineer. He then joined Aldwych International as Project Manager in charge of the management of the technical development for 410 MW wind farm projects in East Africa, notably the 310 MW Lake Turkana Wind Power project in Kenya and the 100 MW Singida Wind East Africa wind farm project in Tanzania. He has project experience in Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Bosnia, Turkey, Iran, Brazil, Senegal, Nigeria, Madagascar, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya. Baptiste holds an MSc in Wind Energy Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and an MSc in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the National Institute for Applied Sciences of Toulouse, France.

Exuperius Tax

Project Manager

Exuperius is an accomplished energy and natural resources policy and business analyst. His analytical prowess in energy and natural resources has been cultivated internationally through various work and training undertaken in Tanzania, Japan, Canada, Botswana, the United Kingdom and Kenya. Prior to joining SandRose, Exuperius was an MSc candidate at the esteemed centre for energy, petroleum and mining law and policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee studying international oil and gas management. Exuperius brings a wealth of regulatory and market expertise most applicable in the management of energy projects across multiple frontier and mature energy jurisdictions.

Cindy Musyoki

Project Manager

Cindy Musyoki is a highly motivated project manager with experience in technical project documentation, stakeholder consultation, environmental impact analysis, carbon crediting, field research and reporting having worked with consulting firms and international development agencies. She has had experience managing different projects in East Africa and has successfully led to completion of stakeholder engagements, project design documents and annual monitoring and evaluation. At SandRose Limited, she brings forth her experience in client relationship management, stakeholder engagement and environmental impact assessment. Cindy previously served as a consultant with El Granero ABS and as a project manager at Viability Africa. Cindy holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning and management from Kenyatta University and is currently undertaking a master’s degree in Climate Change and Adaptation from the University of Nairobi, Kenya
