Stuart Hume
Stuart is an International Resettlement and Social Specialist and has
worked on international projects for 23 years. His international
experience, which spans 40 different countries, has provided him with
a range of skills associated with land acquisition and resettlement
planning, stakeholder engagement, social impact assessment, social
due diligence, and Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC).
Stuart has worked as a land specialist for a variety of financing
institutions including EBRD, GuarantCo, the French Development
Agency, Standard Chartered and the Asian Development Bank. He is
currently preparing a Supplemental Resettlement Action Plan for
upgrading and asphalting of the Satama Sokoura – Sandégué Road,
Côte d’Ivoire, and coordinating the preparation of an ESIA and RAP for
a new road in Gabon.
Stuart has worked in the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan,
Bahrain, Botswana, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Colombia,
Congo-Brazzaville, Egypt, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands, Finland, Gabon,
Germany, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iraq (including Kurdistan), Ivory
Coast, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Malawi, Mauritius,
Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation,
Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine,
Yemen.
Stuart is a hydrogeologist by background and possesses an MSc in
Hydrogeology and Groundwater Chemistry, BSc in Geology with
Physical Geography, later growing his social assessment
competencies through studies in International Development. At
SandRose, Stuart has led a number of ESIA assignments in Kenya and
Tanzania including several utility-scale wind farm and solar PV
projects.
Stuart is responsible for SandRose’s environmental and social
impact assessment, resettlement and livelihood restoration
assignments and land access services.
