Mining
The mining industry is involved in the extraction of precious minerals and other geological materials. It is an extremely energy-intensive industry with a high CO2 footprint. That is why the mining industry is a key player in tackling climate change and supporting the global energy transition.
Adoption of climate-smart mining practices, including the use of renewable energy to power mining operations, is the path to achieving SDGs 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 12 (Sustainable Consumption and Production), and 13 (Action against Climate Change). One critical strategic shift that mining must make during the transition is to address the environmental and social impacts of mining, which will relieve investor and consumer pressure on the supply chain and promote a more holistic and mutually beneficial production system.
At SandRose, we aim at supporting our mining clients develop, finance, implement and operate projects that include, from their design stage, throughout construction and operation to decommissioning, technical adequacy and sector best practices, climate change mitigation and resilience, and minimum global standards for responsible conduct.
Our support to the mining sector includes the following steps:
- Assessment of risks and impacts
- Propose solutions to improve your resilience to risks and reduce your impacts
- Manage the implementation of the designed solutions
