ESIA, ESMP and RAP For 150 MW TANESCO Solar PV Project

The project is a 150 MW utility-scale solar PV plant connected to the national grid and developed in Shinyanga region by TANESCO , the national electricity generation, transmission and distribution utility of Tanzania. The project is supported by the Agence Française de Développement.

In collaboration with Artelia, SandRose was appointed to carry out the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the Project, in compliance with Tanzanian legal requirements and World Bank Environmental and Social Standard.

SandRose was responsible for the preparation of Social Impact Assessment, Resettlement Action Plan and a suite of Social Management Plans, including guidance on restoration programs and compensation strategies and payments. This included broad stakeholder engagement, enumeration of Project Affected Persons and household survey, cadastral survey of the project site, verification and update of existing valuation of land and assets, and ESIA, RAP and ESMP disclosure. Our fieldwork surveys and stakeholder consultations used digital systems. We also managed data: consultation summaries and baseline data were stored in databases and relevant information mapped using GIS tools.
